About Me
I started to work in the industry more than a decade ago, when the prices of solar-powered systems were prohibitive. Back then, people were using lead-acid batteries to store the produced solar energy.
While those batteries continue to be used for automobiles, they have a serious problem: their capacity varies depending on how fast they are discharged. Not only that, but they can get damaged if they are discharged for too long due to sulfation, a process in which some of the lead sulfate is converted to a stable crystalline form, which can be observed as a white coating that covers the plates. Thankfully, the company I work for uses modern lithium-ion batteries, which may be a bit more expensive, but are the best option when it comes to solar panel energy storage.
